Before Facebook, we had the Max Creek Forum (archives are still available). Scott Murawski, guitar (better known as "X") would chime in and read from time to time. We had suggested in our exchanges that it would be cool to switch it up and open with unexpected songs or pure instrumentals.
Sure enough, the 1st set opened with an instrumental, Signature, usually paired with Devils Heart or split up during a set with it as a closer or even an encore (if Heart opened up the set).
Back Porch is also reserved as one of many encores, when there's not enough time at the end of the night to do a full song and usually consisting of 3.5 minutes. Sometimes it's paired with Henry>Back Porch.
So we have 2 usual closers as openers and both instrumentals. Even cooler is Back Porch usually ends and never jams out. This does.
A real treat.
Not too many John songs at all, just one original. A bunch of Dead in here. Great set. I remember it well.
